I started on this chemical free plan with a veggie protein diet, cutting back on meat as well as dairy and taking veggie protein supplements and eating legumes and grains for protein. I was on it a couple months, lost no weight and was still hungry all the time, got bad cravings for meat. It was not working for weight loss, and even tno I felt pretty good being, I kept it gluten free. I could feel the need for meat.
Then right before I found Paleo I started loosing hair and my nails started getting brittle again. My hair was coming out bad. I started back on meat and went Paleo and it has taken several months for my hair to stop falling out. Just now my hair is starting to stay in again. Veggie protein was not for my metabolic type, I knew this but was so flustered gaining weight again, that I just couldn't take it any more and started a new diet again. Thinking any protein would be protein and would be ok. If you are a meat type of metabolic type veggie protein will not satisfy you and you will still have cravings and be hungry all the time. Mom is fine on legume and grain protein, tho I wish she would cut out gluten, I know her knee swelling would go down if she went gluten free. Gluten is not good for you even if you are a carb type.
I know this hair and nail problems is because of my weight loss surgery 10 years ago. But it is like a signal for me to know when I am not getting the nutrients I need. I feel lucky to have this signal to tell me when my body is in need. When I am doing something wrong. Everyone else just has how they feel. most of us don't know by that cause all of the chemicals in our food make us feel bad all the time.
I am having allergy problems here because it is "monsoon" season and all the plants that can bloom are blooming right now.. Will be glad when they start drying up. LOL. will be glad when the heat starts to fade some.
